- ILoo
The iLoo was either a short-lived Microsoft project to develop a
Wi-Fi -enabled Internetflush toilet or ahoax perpetuated by a British division within Microsoft. News of the iLoo was widely reported, including by theAssociated Press and theWall Street Journal . Notably, the iLoo was "not" announced onApril Fools Day .According to news releases, the iLoo was originally planned for summer music festivals in England, following a pattern of other unusual marketing devices such as an Internet-access park bench. However, due to confusion within the company about whether the project was a hoax, the project was quickly cancelled.
Microsoft has denied the existence of the iLoo project. According to some news services, though, Microsoft later retracted the denial, claiming that sources within Microsoft (incorrectly) believed the project to be a hoax.
