John S. Moore is an American saxophonist and
saxophone teacher who specializes in European and American classical music.Education
Moore holds an M.M. degree from
Florida State University where he studied withPatrick Meighan . He attended and performed at several workshops given by saxophonistSigurd Raschèr .Teaching Positions
Moore currently serves as instructor of saxophone at
University of Louisville in Louisville,Kentucky and atIndiana University Southeast in New Albany,Indiana .He has served as saxophone instructor at the
State University of New York at Stony Brook ; atCampbellsville University [http://www.campbellsville.edu/] inCampbellsville, Kentucky ; and at theUniversity of Kentucky inLexington, Kentucky .For several years he served as co-coordinator of chamber music at the Saxophone Institute, an annual week-long summer workshop held at the
University of Louisville and later atTransylvania University .In 2002 he started the
Cardinal Saxophone Workshop , a week-long program for saxophonists ages 12 to adult. It is held each July on theUniversity of Louisville campus.Performing career
In the 1980s and 1990s he played in '
THE TRIO ,' an ensemble of alto, tenor, and baritonesaxophone s. Other members of THE TRIO over the years included Lee Patrick,Patrick Meighan ,Pete Hodson , andRick Morgan .Mr. Moore has also performed professionally as a member of
Trio Bel Canto (alto saxophone, tenor saxophone and piano), theAeolian Saxophone Quartet , theSaxophone Sinfonia , theNew York Chamber Saxophones , and theNew Sousa Band .As a member of
Trio Bel Canto , he was a bronze medalist at the firstOsaka International Chamber Music Competition and Festa held inOsaka, Japan . As a soloist was a semifinalist in theConcert Artists Guild International New York Competition .External links
