Lucy Hockings

Lucy Hockings is a New Zealander who is working as a television journalist for BBC World. She joined the network as producer in 1999, just before being promoted to senior producer in 2000, and worked on Asia Today and HARDtalk. She kept on reporting on the September 11, 2001 attacks, followed by the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. In 2003, she became BBC World's presenter, covering such events as the 2004 Tsunami, the death of Pope John Paul II and the 2005 London bombings. In 2006, she was made full-time presenter of The World Today. In her spare time, she is also a features BBC World reporter. Her previous assignments include Canada, Spain, Norway, and the Netherlands.

She currently presents The World Today on BBC News 24 Monday-Thursday 05:00-06:00 UK Time, and BBC World where she continues presenting until 08:00 UK Time.

Her birthday is March 7.
