Stowgate

Stowgate is is a small farming settlement in Lincolnshire, England, located approximately 2 miles North-East of Deeping St James. Stowgate contains very few houses, most of which are farm houses, complementing the agricultural way of life in the Deepings.

History

Stowgate grew up around one large farm, known as "Stowgate Farm", the farm-house of which is still in existence. After the war it was divided into several smaller farms, which were intended to provide housing for people who had worked contributing to the war effort, so giving them land to on which to grow their own food. These farms still exist today.

Industry
