Corinthian Pointe, Houston, Texas

Corinthian Pointe is a large planned affordable subdivision located in Houston, Texas, United States.

Corinthian Pointe is located outside of the 610 Loop and inside Beltway 8 near Reliant Park. The neighborhood is the largest residential subdivision in Houston that was developed by a non-profit group. The Windsor Village United Methodist Church's Reverend Kirbyjon Caldwell, Pyramid Residential Community Corporation, and Ryland Homes established the community in the 2000s; the church is the largest United Methodist Church in the United States [http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1533448-8,00.html] .

The community, which spans 220 acres, included 462 homes by the end of 2006. The subdivision cost 173 million United States dollars to build. About 80% of the subdivision's homes are classified as "affordable" by the City of Houston according to Genora Boykins, the chairwoman of Pyramid Residential Community Corporation. Many of the houses were sold at below-market prices. A Houston ISD elementary school, Jean Hines-Caldwell Elementary School, was built to accompany the neighborhood. The school, named after Kirbyjon Caldwell's mother, opened in fall 2005. Caldwell was designed by PBK [http://www.pbkarchitects.com/Projects/projects_es.htm] .

The West Orem Family YMCA and retail outlets are next to the subdivision.
