The Brisbane River Stage is an outdoor entertainment venue located on the
Brisbane River ,Brisbane ,Australia . Brisbane’s River Stage was officially opened on the 7th September 1989 by the Right Honourable Lord Mayor Alderman
Sallyanne Atkinson , and has a twohectare site within theBrisbane City Botanic Gardens with a capacity of 9,000 people. It was inspired by the temporary and very successful River Stage used for World Expo '88 a year earlier, located on the opposite side of the Brisbane River at the Expo site. Now used for local, national and international music festivals and performances, the venue consists of offices, dressing rooms, kitchen facilities, a covered rooftop hospitality area and parking is available onsite.River Festival
The River Stage has had a pivotal role in performances and has played host to many events staged during the annual
Riverfestival since the venue’s construction. (‘River Stage Brisbane Event’, 2005) The tradition of carols in the park has been one to bring the people of Brisbane together during the festive season. Parklife music festival is also set to be held, at and around the river stage for the first time in September 2007. The River Stage has also become the host for the touringSoundwave Festival having it's first show there in 2007 and returning in 2008.References
