The music video directed by Fab 5 Freddy was shot on location in Snoop Dogg's hometown, Long Beach, California and has cameo appearances by Dr. Dre and Kurupt. The song was a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #8.

The song, produced by Dr. Dre, features interpolations of Funkadelic's (Not Just) Knee Deep as its bassline and George Clinton's Atomic Dog in its chorus. Additional vocals were contributed by Jewell and Tony Green. The follow up version of it titled "Snoop Dogg" was released on his album, "Tha Last Meal".The cover artwork is by Joe Cool. Rapper, Jay-Z, lifts a line from the first verse, changing little, for "Jigga My Nigga". He also goes to take a line from the third verse for the chorus of his song, "Jigga That Nigga".

* Lines from the song are taken from previous Dr. Dre tracks "Deeez Nuuuts" and "Rat-tat-tat-tat"
* On the pilot episode to Nickelodeon's sketch comedy show All That, Cast member Kenan Thompson played Leap Froggy Frog, a rapping frog. This character was based on Snoop. TLC was in the episode and sang the chorus to Leap Froggy Frogg's song in the same style as "Who Am I?"
* A parody of the song/music video was featured in Fear of a Black Hat.
