The station broadcasts local and national music, as well as newscasts and sports coverage. The station operates in a building between the Architecture Library and Drama Theater at the Arizona State University's Tempe Campus.KASC was founded in
1982 , then using thecall sign KASR, usingcarrier current broadcast only. While it remains an unlicensed station, KASC now broadcasts 24 hours a day using a 30-watt transmitter (operating at seven watts) as well as via a streaming audio feed at theirwebsite . The station can be heard in most of the East Valley area of Phoenix, but the signal is very weak and laden with static noise, rendering the music almost inaudible. For the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 Semesters, KASC will be overseen by student directors attending
Arizona State University . The Director Staff includes Station Manager Becky Bartkowski, a junior and former Music Director. Junior Briana Valdivia will serve as the News Director for the second consecutive semester, and Sophomore Andrew Gruman will begin his term as Sports Director. Senior Sara Zeck is stepping into her second term in three years as Promotions Director, and SeniorBen Benya will switch from Sports Director to Production Director in the Fall. Owen Marshall is the incoming Music Director. Tony Jackson, a former Station Manager and Graduate student, will be stepping as the professional adviser.References
