Secure Service Network

Secure Service Network

In computer security, a Secure Service Network (SSN) is sometimes referred as DMZ (demilitarized zone), but the term SSN is less ambiguous.

Machines offering services should be placed in a network separated from the external and the internal network, behind Firewall/IPS. This makes the SSN a very "Militarized" network.

Machines placed in internal or external networks should reach the servers in the SSN. But servers placed on the SSN should not reach the internal network. This protects the internal network in case intruders compromise a server in the SSN.
