(1994)Mic City Sons
(1996)Mic City Sons is the third and final album by Heatmiser, released in 1996 on Caroline Records. Pitchfork.com ranked the album at #48 on their "Top Albums of the 90s" list (1999). [1]
This was the band's first recording for a major label; however, when individuals at Virgin Records learned the band might be on the verge of breaking up, the album was subsequently licensed for release through the smaller sister independent music label Caroline Records (also an EMI subsidiary) and their independent distributor of the same name.
The title of the album is taken from a line in the ninth track, "Pop in G".
Track listing
- "Get Lucky" (Elliott Smith)
- "Plainclothes Man" (Smith)
- "Low-Flying Jets" (Neil Gust)
- "Rest My Head Against The Wall" (Gust)
- "The Fix Is In" (Smith)
- "Eagle Eye" (Gust)
- "Cruel Reminder" (Gust)
- "You Gotta Move" (Smith)
- "Pop in G" (Gust)
- "Blue Highway" (Gust)

Note: The commercially-released album does not have individual songwriting credits, only noting "All songs written by Neil Gust or Elliott Smith." Advanced promotional copies of the CD included notes designating individual tracks written by either Gust or Smith, as noted above. Smith's official site notes that the promotional copies incorrectly attributed "Pop in G" to Smith when it was written by Gust.[2]
