Esandsjø (or Esandsjøen, [The suffix "-en" is a form of the Norwegian language definite article and means "the". Hence "Esandsjøen" is equivalent to "the Esandsjø." Both forms can be found in English language text.] Essandsjøen, Essand, Sami Saantenjaevrie [Various Sami and Norwegian language terms distinguish different types of lakes. The name "Jávrre" or "Jaevrie": (Lule Sami) or "jávri" (Northern Sami) is used as a suffix for larger lakes. ] )) was a lake in Tydal municipality of Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. Esandsjøen became regulated for hydroelectric power production by Trondheim Energiverk with the construction of a dam in Esna in the period 1941-1947 and subsequent works. After the construction of the dam, the Esandsjøen became a part of the Nesjø. Today the designation Essandsjøen is used for the northern part of Nesjøen.
