Yarra Valley Grammar School is an independent, co-educational grammar school, located in Ringwood, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

The school was established in 1966 as Yarra Valley Church of England School, and catered for boys only. Girls were admitted to the two senior levels in 1978, and the school progressively became fully co-educational from 1993 through 1995. At one time it was called Yarra Valley Anglican School.

The school has recently adopted a healthy food policy, ending the sale of a number of unhealthy foods within the school's cafeteria. This policy has since been adopted by a number of schools within the region of Victoria.

In 2006, the Yarra Valley Grammar celebrated its 40th birthday with many special events, including a whole school photo and an aerial photo of the students positioned to create the number 40. The school celebrated its birthday in a service at St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne in September 2006.

Mr. Andrew Hocking has taken over the position of principal (since July 1 2008) from Neville J Lyngcoln who announced his resignation on Wednesday 27th of February 2008 for personal family matters.

*1966, First assembly takes place - 135 boys attend
*1970, School invited to become a member of the AGSV
*1971, Headmaster invited to be a member of the Headmaster's Conference of Independent Schools Australia

*2006, School celebrates its 40th birthday

Laptop issues

Unlike other private schools and some other public schools, Yarra Valley has decided not to follow the trend of issuing students school laptops. To substitute the absence of laptops, Yarra Valley has invested in multimedia machines and bandwidth intranet infrastructure to accommodate the ever increasing number of students interested in Multimedia as their future career.

House system

There are four houses, named after important figures during the school's history - Hughes, Arnott, Annells and Plummer.
