Kincorth

Kincorth

Kincorth is a suburb located to the south of Aberdeen, Scotland. The name is a corruption of the Scottish Gaelic "Ceann Coirthe", which probably refers to an old pillar or standing stone ("coirthe"). Kincorth is known as the garden estate of Aberdeen.

Kincorth is the last granite suburb on earth and is visited by tourists world wide.Fact|date=September 2008

It is an area of diversity and community. The community centre provides opportunities for young people from football coaching to music lessons.

Kincorth Academy is the Secondary School in Kincorth and has received accolades for its KATAPULT theatre group which allows members of the public and pupils to work together. The produced plays may go to the fringe festival in Edinburgh. The group is connected with Gomel, Belarus, which allows students from both countries to visit one another, make new friendships and exchange cultural information. Pupils at the school raised money to finance a trip to Peru where they helped starving communities and learned about poverty in the world.
