Rev. Capt. Ronald Clyde "Ron" Jones (Ret.) is a former
Methodist minister, Windsor District Fire Chief, Trustee for the Greater Essex County District School Board, and is currently a city councillor in Ward 2 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada's west end.Jones is considered to be a trailblazer for
African-Canadian fire fighters. He was hired as a fire fighter in Windsor in 1966. He became the district chief in 1995 and was the highest ranking black officer at that time. The 5,068 votes he received was a record for that ward. Ontario municipal politicians are officially
non-partisan , but Jones identifies himself as a supporter of theNew Democratic Party ofCanada and Ontario.Jones ran again in the 2006 Municipal Election on a platform on continuing to advocate for a
