Yuri Vladimirovich Linnik ( _ru. Юрий Владимирович Линник; January 8, 1915 – June 30, 1972) was a
Russia nmathematician active innumber theory ,probability theory andmathematical statistics .Linnik was born in
Bila Tserkva ,Ukraine . He went toSt Petersburg University and later worked at the university and Steklov Institute. He was a member of theRussian Academy of Sciences , as was his father, Vladimir Pavlovich Linnik. He was awarded both State andLenin Prize s. He died inLeningrad .Work in number theory
