Marc Cooper Sullivan (born July 25, 1958) is an American former college and professional baseball player. Sullivan was a catcher who played for five Major League Baseball seasons with the Boston Red Sox.
Sullivan was born in Quincy, Massachusetts. He is the son of former Red Sox general manager Haywood Sullivan. He was selected by the Red Sox in the second round of the 1979 amateur draft out of the University of Florida.
Sullivan batted .417 in his first two seasons with the Red Sox in 12 at bats. Sullivan was known as a defensive specialist and although he had power (hitting 15 home runs in only 383 minor league at bats in 1984), he managed a lifetime major league batting average of .186. His minor league average was not far behind at .222. He was traded to the Houston Astros in 1987 but never appeared in a game for their major league club.
Because the makers of the NES classic R.B.I. Baseball gave Sullivan incredible pinch-hitting abilities, Sullivan is a fan-favorite for players of the game.
