The Cerro del Cubilete (translated as "Tumbler Hill") is a 2,700m (8,860 feet) tall mountain-hill in Silao Municipality in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.
Cristo Rey
Atop the hill is a temple to Cristo el Rey , and a 23m (75 ft) tall statue of Christ. The elevated area provides a view of the Bajío Region surrounding it.
The statue was built by Cristeros, in the words of former President Vicente Fox, as a "rebuke to the repressors of religious freedom" who sought to quash the Church during the persecution of Christians in Mexico in the first half of the twentieth century. [1]
