Gurukul Lutheran Theological College & Research Institute is an ecumenical seminary situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, South India. Affiliation

The College is affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College (University) which was established in the year 1818 by a Danish Charter and later ratified by the Legislature of Bengal when Serampore was handed over to the British from the Danes by passing of The Serampore College Act, 1918..

In fact, Serampore was the first institution to be given the status of a university [Country paper of Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education [http://www.education.nic.in/unhighedu.asp] ] in India. ["Ibid"]

Background

The college song was written by N. Samuel of Tranquebar who was present during the dedication of the college, where he was to take some classes. He died before formal classes could begin.
