The Census measured the percentage of commuters who walk to work, as opposed to takingpublic transit , driving anautomobile ,bicycle ,boat , or some other means.College town s and cities withmilitary base s often rank high on this list, as students and faculty of universities often live very close to their place of employment if on-campus or close to campus.
