Nicholas Chabraja

Nicholas D. Chabraja (pronounced cha-brah-ya) (born November 6, 1942, in Gary, Indiana.[1]) was the Chief Executive Officer[2] of General Dynamics Corporation He attended Northwestern University where he graduated with Bachelor of Arts and law degrees.[1] He is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.

As his reign as Chief Executive Officer of General Dynamics came to an end on June 30, 2009, he was regarded as the longest-serving chief executive among the top five defense contractors, which includes rival Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing and Raytheon.

Under his guidance over the past twelve years, the Company saw rapid growth, mainly through acquisitions. The defense contractor began with roughly $4 billion in sales and 29,000 employees, and had expanded to $29.3 billion in sales and 92,900 employees as of 2008.[3]

In 2009, Mr. Chabraja was considered one of "The TopGun CEOs" by Brendan Wood International, an advisory agency.[4][5]

While CEO of General Dynamics in 2008, Nicholas D. Chabraja earned a total compensation of $17,962,579, which included a base salary of $1,375,000, a cash bonus of $4,500,000, stocks granted of $3,756,556, options granted of $7,926,420, and all other compensation of $404,603.[6]
