Kelly won the Miss Massachusetts USA 2006 title on 19 November 2005, having previously placed second runner-up at Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2003. She went on to represent Massachusetts in the Miss USA 2006 pageant held in Baltimore, Maryland on April 21, 2006, where she was one of only two eighteen year-olds competing. During pre-pageant events, Kelly was chosen to sing the national anthem at a Baltimore Orioles game along with two other delegates. She did not place in the nationally televised pageant, which was won by Tara Conner of Kentucky.
Kelly was also one of twenty six Miss USA Delegates who appeared on Deal or No Deal in April 2006.
Kelly graduated from Thayer Academy in 2005 and is currently studying Kinesiology at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. Her aspiration is to become a chiropractor, and she is currently working at Milton Chiropractics and Rehabilitation. She has won a number of academic awards at both high school and college level.
As an international spokesperson educating teens and young adults on AIDS prevention and STD awareness, Kelly has traveled to eight different countries for educational and service purposes. Her other hobbies and interests include cooking, dancing, gardening, painting and singing.
On 31 March 2006 Kelly acted as Master of Ceremonies for the National Center on Family Homelessness's "A Time to Make a Difference" annual benefit. She was able to raise over 3/4 million dollars for The Make-A-Wish Foundation throughout her reign and over 1 million dollars for numerous charities throughout the country.[citation needed]
