Forssa is a town and municipality of Finland.

It is located almost in the centre of a triangle defined by the three largest major cities in Finland (Helsinki, Turku and Tampere), in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Tavastia Proper region. The municipality has a population of 17,916 (2007-04-30) [ [http://www.forssa.fi/?pageid=VNeAterwLaAwsw9 Forssan kaupunki ] ] and covers an area of 254.7 km² of which 5.3 km² is water. The population density is 73.0 inhabitants per km².

Forssa is known for its annual big events like in the first weekend of August held Holjat Festival as well as car enthusiasts get together in [http://pick-nick.com/content/view/31/76/ Pick-Nick] , the biggest event in Northern Europe. A tradition is also annual [http://www.suvi-ilta.fi/epages/Suviilta.axl/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Suviilta/Categories/English/%22English%20page%22 Suvi-ilta Maraton] - the second biggest marathon event in Finland. Suvi-ilta Maraton takes place a weekend before Midsummer. Horse trotting is very popular in Finland and in Forssa there is a relatively popular horse trotting track.

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
