- Tower Hill tube station
Tower Hill is a
London Underground station at Tower Hill in theLondon Borough of Tower Hamlets .The station is in
Travelcard Zone 1 and near theTower of London . The entrance to the station is located a few metres from one of the largest remaining segments of the Roman wall which formerly surrounded what is now theCity of London .It is on the Circle Line between Monument and Aldgate, and the
District Line between Monument and Aldgate East. It is a few metres toTower Gateway DLR station andFenchurch Street railway station . The station is currently undergoing much delayed refurbishment with completion now due sometime in2008 .It was built on the site of the former
Tower of London tube station that was closed early in the history of the Underground. It replaced a station with the same name, but earlier calledMark Lane tube station , that was situated further west.This station has three platforms, with one platform for trains that terminate at Tower Hill.
