Hornchurch tube station is a
London Underground station on theDistrict Line , located inHornchurch and a short walk south from the town centre. The station is in Zone 6, located between Elm Park and Upminster Bridge stations.History
The station was opened by the
London, Tilbury and Southend Railway in 1885 and was expanded and modernised in 1935. The station has four platforms. Two are used by the District Line and another two are disused after service from LT&SR was withdrawn in 1962 when the line through the station was electrified. The current station buildings were opened in 1932 when the electrifiedDistrict Line was extended to Upminster. The platforms are located beneath street level and the station buildings are of typical 1930s design with very little trace of the Victorian origins of the station remaining.Off Peak Service

*12 tph (trains per hour) to Upminster
*6 tph to Wimbledon via Tower Hill
*6 tph to Richmond via Tower HillThe station has a crossover, to the West of the platforms, enabling trains to terminate there and return to service in the opposite direction.
