List of Gundams in G-Unit

As with all fiction created for the "Gundam" media franchise, the protagonists in the ' manga series (released in the English language as "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Last Outpost") pilot mobile suits designated as Gundams"'.

All of the Gundam designs created for the manga were created by Koichi Tokita, with some cleanup by BEE-CRAFT.

Geminass 01 and 02

As well as a Gundanium alloy construction, the Geminass suits featured two new technologies; the Unit System and the PX System. The Unit System was a modular design, allowing any component (excluding the cockpit torso) to be replaced with any other component, allowing mobile suits to be easily modified for any combat or environmental situation. The PX System was able to cause a short period of "super-charge" when activated; temporarily boosting the suit's speed and power, while stimulating an adrenaline surge in the pilot. If abused the PX System could cause damage to the suit and the pilot.

The original MO-V Gundams designed by Dr. Berg, Geminass 01 and 02 are assigned at the start of the manga to rookie Odin Barnett and his older brother Odel respectively. Both suits are identical in design and function, although the PX System in 01 was inactive until Odin could learn to use it in chapter 3. Both suits can be equipped with a 'space unit', allowing them to manoeuver and fight in exo-atmospheric conditions.

Geminass 01 is later upgraded to the Gundam L.O. Booster. Geminass 02 is destroyed in chapter 2, salvaged by OZ Prize, remodelled as Gundam Aesculapius, and later recaptured by its original pilot.

The new components allow the suit to function in two roles; high mobility, and close combat.

The suit is initially piloted by OZ Prize member Roche Nattono, who is unable to control the PX System. The suit is then used by Odel Bernett, who infiltrated OZ Prize following the destruction of Geminass 02. He continues to use it following the revelation of his identity and 'defection' to MO-V, up until the end of the series.

The Aesculapius design is used as the basis for the OZ Prize-constructed Gundam Burnlapius (Prometheus Gundam in the Tokyopop English release), appearing only in the late parts of chapter 10 of the manga.

It is piloted by Valder Farkill, a mobile suit ace earning distinction in the purge of the United Earth Sphere Alliance (depicted from episode 5 onwards in the "Gundam Wing" anime).

The main feature of the Hydra Gundam is its ability to fold back its legs and use the thrusters housed underneath the skirt armor for high speed maneuvers. The suit is equipped with an electro-magnetic shield.

The Hydra and its pilot are destroyed by Gundam Griepe in the final chapter of the manga. The Hydra appears in the "" Playstation game. It is the first mobile suit outside of the Universal Century continuity to appear in the series.

The Griepe features the same modular design of the original Geminass suits, and shares many of the same parts, including the performance increasing PX System. The Griepe's standard armaments include a long range mega particle launcher and a beam lance.

The Griepe can also transform into a fighter mode, which features a buster mega particle cannon capable of taking out several mobile suits in one shot. In its mobile suit mode, it comes with a pair of powerful anti-beam shields connected by flexible joints that deploy like wings, which can fold over the body to provide a defensive shield. When their high-density silicon carbide is activated, they generate a powerful repulsive force field that provides protection against attacks.

The Griepe is heavily damaged in a battle against the Hydra in chapter 11. Although victorious, Odin is forced to use the modular G-Unit system and components from Odel's Aesculapius and Roche Nattano's L.O. Booster Gundams in order to keep the Griepe active for long enough to take out the OZ Prize space battleship "Granshiro".
