Michael Louis Caccioppoli, Jr. (born July 12, 1971) is an American politician. During the 2006 Election, he ran as a Democratic candidate for the United States House of Representatives seat currently held by Rick Renzi since 2003, representing the 1st District of Arizona (map). On September 12, 2006, his campaign officially ended when he did not win the Democratic Primary.
Mike Caccioppoli is a member of the Democratic Party of Arizona. He worked on the campaigns of John Kerry and Paul Babbitt during the 2004 election while living in Casa Grande. In the 2006 election year, Mike ran for US House of Representatives against incumbent Rick Renzi in Arizona Congressional District 1. His campaign slogan was "Renew the Deal," referring to Roosevelt's New Deal under which most of the great American social programs were created. He was the first candidate to begin running TV ads. Mike was also officially endorsed by Stuart Starky, a candidate for US Senate in Arizona in 2004.
Mike Caccioppoli lost in the primary, only getting 9.5% of the vote. Upon defeat, Mike formally endorsed David Schlosser, the Libertarian candidate for Congress, citing the need for candidates who were ethical.
Background and family
Michael Caccioppoli, Jr. was born in the Brooklyn borough of New York, New York. In 1989, Caccioppoli graduated from Susan Wagner High School on Staten Island in New York, New York. Following high school, Caccioppoli studied communications for two years at New York City's College of Staten Island. At age 19, he performed on talk radio at WABC in New York. Later, he went to Las Vegas, Nevada to work on several talk radio shows. Michael is the older brother of Evan F. Caccioppoli, a New York/Chicago based Theatre Director/Actor/and Teacher.
