J. Torres

J. Torres is a Filipino-born Canadian comic book writer.

History

The writer was born in Manila and raised in Montreal where he was educated at McGill University. He currently resides in Toronto.

His most recent comic book writing credits include the "Wonder Girl" miniseries, "Batman Strikes", "Ninja Scroll", "Teen Titans Go!", and "Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century" for DC Comics, "Love As A Foreign Language" for Oni Press, and the ' series of graphic novels from Simon & Schuster. He has also contributed to the "Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi" show on Cartoon Network, "Edgar & Ellen" on Nickelodeon, and the ' animated and live action webisodes.

His various projects have earned nominations for the prestigious Eisner Award ("Alison Dare", 2003), Harvey Award ("Sidekicks", 2001), and Shuster Award ("Outstanding Canadian Writer" 2005 winner, 2004, 2006, and 2007 nominee).

Other credits include work on "", "Black Panther", "Blue Beetle", "Wonder Woman", and "X-Men"; chapter books and activity books for "Scholastic" and "Simon Says"; and writing for magazines including Kayak, Nickelodeon Magazine, and YTV's "Whoa".

Upcoming publications include the graphic novels "" and "Dead Goombas" for Oni as well as the Family Dynamic miniseries for DC.
