Teddington Baptist Church
- Teddington Baptist Church
Teddington Baptist Church is a lively evangelical Baptist church in the London suburb of Teddington. Its mission statement is "To bring Christ to our community and our community to Christ".
The Baptist church in Teddington had its origins in meetings in a rented room in 1877. It grew rapidly and by 1900 had a church building seating over 500 to which were added extensive Sunday buildings in 1906. The original church was destroyed by enemy bombing in the Second World War but a replacement was built in 1956.
The present premises in Church Road were remodelled in 2004 with a new glass atrium and front. This remodelling has enabled the church to host many more community based activities. The church has a wide range of activities which are well described on its [http://www.teddingtonbaptist.org.uk website] in addition to Sunday services at 10.30am and 6.30pm.
The Minister is Rev Richard Littledale. He is well known as a preacher working with the College of Preachers. He is the author of book about narrative preaching called "Stale Bread" (published October 2007) and another one about preaching called "The Preacher's A-Z" (published April 2008). Every month he writes a topical article called Views on the News for the church's website. He also contributes to the Radio 2 series called "Pause for Thought".
