He played college hockey for theUniversity of Michigan and was named Alternate Captain of the team before being drafted in the first-round (27th overall) in the2003 NHL Entry Draft by theLos Angeles Kings . OnMarch 8 ,2006 , Jeff was traded, along withDenis Grebeshkov , to theNew York Islanders , in exchange forMark Parrish andBrent Sopel .Starting with his first pro season in
2005 -06, Tambellini has split time between the AHL and his NHL club, playing a high of 31 games with the Islanders in 2007-08. During that season he also secured Bridgeport Sound Tigers' single-season scoring record with 76 points in 57 games.His father,
