Culpeper County High School, properly abbreviated CCHS, used to be the sole high school in Culpeper County, Virginia. However, a new second high school (Eastern View) opened in Fall of 2008. The school's current principal is Dr. Jeffrey J. Dietz. The school has classrooms throughout two buildings: in the whole of the CCHS building and in a separate building with 18 additional classrooms. It commonly uses the acronym BDP, short for "Blue Devil Pride," in posters in the school. Its gymnasium is named after William Pearson, one of its most popular principals, who served from the 1970s to the 1990s.

Collaboration with Eastern View High School

Following the opening of Eastern View High School, Culpeper County Public Schools decided not to hire new teachers to teach all offered classes at both schools. Instead, transportation via bus is provided every day between the schools. For example, Culpeper County Public Schools' Military Science course is offered only at Eastern View High School.[2]

Academic Opportunities

Certain students at the high school are also eligible to apply to Mountain Vista Governor's School to take advanced math, science, humanities, and research courses.
