AA Battlefield District

The AA Battlefield District is one of the three districts of AA Region I of the Virginia High School League which consists of schools in Fredericksburg and surrounding area. Most of the schools in the district are in Spotsylvania County, which is one of fastest growing counties in Virginia. The district is named for the Civil War battlefields around Fredericksburg.

The schools in the Battlefield District compete in Region I with the schools in the AA Bay Rivers District and the AA Southside District. Courtland, Spotsylvania, and James Monroe won multiple football state titles during the 1980s and 1990s.

In 2007, Riverbend High School left the Battlefield District and joined the AAA Commonwealth District.

In the fall of 2008, Culpeper's new Eastern View High School will join the Battlefield District.
