wheelbase=The GMT800 is the basis for the previous generationChevrolet Silverado full-size pickup truck. The derived GMT820 and GMT830 is used in the Suburban, among other full-size SUVs. This is the successor to theGMT400 series of C/K pickups and SUVs, and was replaced for 2007 by the newGMT900 line.It uses three boxed-in hydroformed sections rather than a single long frame. This gives greater flexibility to the platform. A total of four front modules, seven midsections, and four rear sections were created to mix and match for nearly 40 different truck configurations.
The GMT 800 platform was introduced in
1999 . Frames are manufactured byMagna International inRamos Arizpe ,Coahuila ,Mexico andSt. Thomas, Ontario ,Canada . Final assembly is inOshawa, Ontario ,Pontiac, Michigan andFort Wayne, Indiana .
