- Atikaki Provincial Wilderness Park
Atikaki Provincial Wilderness Park is located in
Manitoba ,Canada , and was partially mapped out by Marc Wermager, and is designated as a wilderness park. This means that there are no roads, logging areas, or major developments in the park. It is located east ofLake Winnipeg , along theOntario border in theCanadian Shield region. Most of the water flows west to Lake Winnipeg, and the lakes and rivers are warmer than most cold rivers that flow from mountain streams. The majority of population north and east of the park is native, and the closest town isBisset . Atikaki is north ofNopiming Provincial Park .Atikaki is home to wildlife such as
moose ,elk , black bears,loon s,bald eagle s,woodland caribou , and other creatures of theboreal forest . It is known mostly for its beautiful waterways, and is a popular destination for more adventurous canoe trippers. Most popular are theBloodvein River ,Gammon River , and theSasaginnigak River .There are several fly in fishing lodges in the area. Atikaki Park was initially to become a National Park but ended up as a Provincial Park.
