- Benjys
Benjys was a chain of
sandwich shops in theUnited Kingdom . Most of the sixty branches were located inLondon and the South East of England, with some in major cities outside the South East, such asLeeds ,Manchester andBirmingham . At one point, it operated a van-based model in which franchises delivered sandwiches to offices, particularly in business parks, that are generally not well served by venues that sell food intended to be eaten at lunchtime. The first branch of Benjys was opened in 1989 by
Paul Benjamin husband of Inez Benjamin. The Benjamin family sold the thriving business for around £40 million, at the turn of the Millennium.Benjys employed over 650 people and offered a range of hot food, fresh fruit, snacks, desserts and bakery items in its stores.
Paul Benjamin invented the 16oz coffee cup, and the "Torpeado Sandwich ".
