Lake Sherwood is an unincorporated community in Ventura County, California overlooking the lake of the same name. It is south of the city of Thousand Oaks, and west of Westlake Village in Los Angeles County. The ZIP Code is 91361, and the community is inside area code 805. Parts of The Muppet Movie was filmed here. Fact|date= August 2008

Physical Character

Lake Sherwood has 660 residences and consists of two main parts- a gated community of large homes surrounding the lake, as well as various imitation developments in the surrounding hills but not in the actual "Lake Sherwood" development. The area is almost completely residential, most residents using neighboring Thousand Oaks or Agoura Hills for commercial needs.

Education

The area is served by the Conejo Valley Unified School District. Students attend Westlake Elementary, Colina Middle School, and Westlake High School.

Famous Residents

Among its famous residents was Hockey great Wayne Gretzky, who lived in a Georgian-style estated designed by fellow Canadian Richard Landry. He has however sold the mansion, which was purchased by another sports-star, baseball's Lenny Dykstra. Singer Paul Anka has moved to Lake Sherwood in 2007. Tom Petty lives on David Lane, just off of Lake Sherwood Drive.
