Typically playing as a left winger, Ramzi Abid was selected by the
Colorado Avalanche as the first choice in the second round (28th overall) of the1998 NHL Entry Draft and was redrafted in the2000 NHL Entry Draft 85th overall by thePhoenix Coyotes , who in March 2003 traded him to thePittsburgh Penguins forJan Hrdina .In March 2003, he successfully underwent surgery to repair a torn
anterior cruciate ligament and missed the remainder of the 2002–03 season. He played for theWilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins , an affiliate team of the Pittsburgh Penguins, in theAmerican Hockey League during the2004–05 NHL lockout . Abid spent the 2005–06 season with theAtlanta Thrashers , then signed with theNashville Predators after that season. He scored a hat trick on September 21, 2006 in a preseason game for the Nashville Predators versus the Columbus Blue Jackets. Final score was 8–1 Nashville. Abid was sent to Milwaukee prior to the start of the 2006–2007 season.Abid is a member of Team Canada in the
