Edgar Eduardo Castillo also known as "El Pocho" or "El Gringo", but he prefers "El Homie" (born October 8 1986 in Las Cruces, New Mexico) is a American-born Mexican footballer. He played for Mayfield High School, in Las Cruces NM, from 2001 and 2004 under Coach Arturo Garibay (one of New Mexico's most successful H.S. Soccer Coaches). In 2002, as a Sophomore, he was named NSCAA/adidas High School State Player of the Year.

Castillo also attended a series of one of the most prestigious youth soccer tournaments in the United States, internationally known as Dallas Cup in 2005 He had an outstanding performance against an U-19 squad of English Premier League's Aston Villa, blasting through the left side and pounding one in the back of the net to help Santos Laguna defeat the Europeans 4-1. They made it to the Dallas Cup final for the Super Group but went down to Atletico Paranaense of Brazil 1-0.

Edgar is currently a left defensive starter in Primera División de México's Santos Laguna. He was a player for the Regional National pool for many years. He was one of the top players in New Mexico as he helped and led Mayfield High School to two State Champion games. While playing for the Striker F.C IV The most successful Soccer club in southern New Mexico, he helped lead them to 4 State cup championships,along with championships and finalist at some of the most prestige tournaments in the country(a Club team out of Las Cruces NM) they were ranked 1st in the state and 7th the in nation. His younger brother, Noel Castillo, is on the reserve team for Indios de Ciudad Juarez.

On 31 August 2007, Hugo Sanchez, Mexico's coach, called Edgar Castillo for the two upcoming friendlies with Panama (9 September) and Brazil (12 September), which were be played in Puebla, Pue., Mexico, and Boston, Massachusetts, USA, respectively. On, August 22 2007, Edgar made his first apperance with the national Mexican team and saw an american-mexican born in New Mexico.He entered in the 53rd minute.

He has been called up by Sven Göran Eriksson to be on the 23 man roster for the Mexican national team and will most likely take part in the game against Honduras on August 20,2008
