Robert McClure Bowen (born February 24, 1981 in Bedford, Texas) is a Major League Baseball catcher for the Oakland Athletics.

Bowen spends the regular season living in San Diego, but spends his offseasons in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. He also has a baseball camp each winter back in Fort Wayne.

High school years

Bowen attended Homestead Senior High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As a senior, he earned All-State honors and was named the Indiana State Player of the Year by Gatorade and "USA Today".

Professional career

On June 20, mlby|2007, The Chicago Cubs acquired Bowen and minor league outfielder Kyler Burke from the San Diego Padres in exchange for catcher Michael Barrett. However, Bowen was designated for assignment by Chicago and traded to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for fellow catcher Jason Kendall on July 16 of that year.
