The 59th British Film Awards, given by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts on 19 February, 2006, honoured the best in film for 2005.

Ang Lee's "Brokeback Mountain" won the award for Best Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Best Adapted Screenplay. "" was voted Best British Film of 2005, beating hot favourite "The Constant Gardener". The film led the nominations with 10 categories, only to win one award for Best Editing by Claire Simpson. Philip Seymour Hoffman ("Capote") and Reese Witherspoon ("Walk the Line") won awards for Best Actor and Actress in a Lead Role.
