Make Death Love Me (1979) is a psychological crime novel by English author Ruth Rendell, regarded by some as one of her bleakest and most powerful stories. The novel was shortlisted for an Edgar and won Sweden's prestigious Martin Beck Award.

Synopsis

Bank manager Alan Groombridge is bored with his tedious career and dull home life; he dreams of one day stealing enough money from his employers so he can afford himself total freedom for a single year. He seizes the opportunity when the bank is robbed at gunpoint; however, the dream soon turns sour when the consequences of his reckless actions begin to take hold.
