February 8 ,1867 -January 9 ,1939 ) was a United States Senator fromIdaho . Born inSmithville, Ohio , he attended the public schools and graduated fromOhio Northern University at Ada in 1888. He studied law at theUniversity of Iowa in Iowa City, and was admitted to the bar in 1890, commencing practice inWahoo, Nebraska . He moved toAlbion, Idaho in 1894, and was district judge of the fourth judicial district of the State of Idaho in 1901. He moved toBoise and continued the practice of law.A Democrat, Perky was appointed as a to the United States Senate by Governor
James H. Hawley to fill the vacancy caused by the death ofWeldon B. Heyburn . He from November 18, 1912, to February 5, 1913, when a successor was elected and qualified. He resumed the practice of law in Boise, and moved toLos Angeles, California in 1923 and continued the practice of law until his death there.Perky is buried in Forest Lawn Cemeter in
