fog horn building sits at the end of a 10 mile longsand bar -- stretching between the ports of Duluth and Superior. This obsruction is "Reputedly the longest freshwater sand bar in the world" but is split by an opening near its center. The Minnesota side of the opening is known as "Minnesota Point" and the Wisconsin side is known as "Wisconsin Point."
