Antiochia on the Maeander also Antioch on the Maeander (Greek: Αντιόχεια του Μαίανδρου;
Latin : Antiochia ad Mæandrum), earlier Pythopolis, was a city of ancientCaria , inAnatolia . The city was situated between theMaeander andOrsinus rivers near their confluence and, though it was the site of a bridge over the Maeander had "little or no individual history" (ref. princeton) The scanty ruins are located on a hill (named, in Turkish, Jeni-Sher or Yenişer) a fewkm southeast ofKuyucak ,Aydin Province ,Turkey , near the modern city of Başaran. The city already existed whenAntiochus I enlarged and renamed it. It was home to thesophist Diotrephis .
