Marshall Monroe Kirkman

Marshall Monroe Kirkman (1842–1921) was an American authority on railways, born in Illinois. He entered the service of the Chicago and North Western Railway in 1856 and rose to the position of vice-president in 1889. He wrote extensively on the subject of railways. He wrote The Science of Railways (1894), which was later revised and republished in 17 volumes, and 3 portfolios (1909, et. seq.). The titles of the various volumes are:
