Ian Castles, AO is a
Visiting Fellow at the Asia Pacific School of Economics and Government at theAustralian National University , Canberra, he was theAustralian Statistician (1986-94) and Secretary of the Australian Government Department of Finance (1979-86).He has also been Executive Director and Vice President of the
Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia (1995-2000) and President of the International Association of Official Statistics.He is a contributor to [http://www.onlineopinion.com.au/author.asp?id=603 Online Opinion] , has appeared at events hosted by the
Institute of Public Affairs andCentre for Independent Studies , and published papers withThe Lavoisier Group , a global warming skeptic organisation. Ian Castles is know for his criticism of theIntergovernmental Panel on Climate Change , particularly itsSpecial Report on Emissions Scenarios .His current interests include research into the information requirements for public policy (especially at the international level) and the history of economic thought.
