Ōno (大野市 Ōno-shi?) is a city located in Fukui Prefecture, Japan.

As of June 1, 2011, the city has an estimated population of 36,890 with 12,016 households and the density of 42.29 persons per km². The total area is 872.30 km².

The town is encircled by a ring of mountains and the only way in or out is via tunnels or mountain roads.

The city was founded on July 1, 1954.

On November 7, 2005 the village of Izumi was merged into Ōno.

Ono was home to the author of the book For Fukui's Sake, which describes the expriences of living in the area whilst working at local schools as part of the JET Programme.
