issues=Saint Fergus (also Fergustian) (died c. 730
AD ) was an Irishbishop who went toScotland as amissionary .He settled near
Strageath and founded three churches inStrogeth and two inCaithness (He may have also founded churches inInverugy , Banff, andDyce ). He may have been theFergustus Pictus who went toRome in 721, but such a contention relies solely on the similarity of a common name. He died in 730 and was buried atGlamis ,Angus , where the recently restoredSt. Fergus' Well can be visited. The village church atEassie is dedicated to Saint Fergus; the notedPictish Eassie Stone has been moved to that church.
