"In the Year 2889" (1967) is a made for television, apocalyptic, science fiction, movie about a futuristic nuclear war. The film is the remake of "The Day the World Ended" (1955). In the film, a nuclear war has wiped out all of Earth's citizens, except for a few who hid from it in a valley. After the war, they are menaced by a group of mutant cannibals.

The movie shares a name with the short story "In the Year 2889" by Jules Verne.

Interesting Bits of Trivia:Larry Buchanan was given the script for Day the World Ended (1956) by AIP to use while making this film. Rather than making anything original, Buchanan made an almost line for line remake. This film was used to pad out an AIP television syndication deal.
