Lowest spending=1; Highest=105The Montgomery Township School District is a comprehensive public school district that serves students in Kindergarten through 12th grade from Montgomery Township, in Somerset County, New Jersey. Part of the school district is Rocky Hill, which was the first village in the Township and is now a separately incorporated borough.
Montgomery Township is one of the fastest growing school districts in New Jersey. In September 1992, the K-12 enrollment was 1,590 compared to 4,924 in September 2005. This represents a tripling of enrollment in eleven years.
As of the 2008-09 school year, the district's five schools had an enrollment of 5,309 students and 387.4 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.7.[1]

Awards and recognition
For the 1992-93 school year, Montgomery High School was formally designated as a National Blue Ribbon School, the highest honor that an American school can achieve. Montgomery Middle School was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School for the 1999-2000 school year.[3]
The Montgomery Township School District has been ranked among the best schools in New Jersey. In the past few years Montgomery Township Schools were ranked as "the best bang for the buck" (New Jersey Monthly magazine), referring to the high achievement of students with a relatively low spending per pupil (compared to other school districts in New Jersey). Montgomery High School was the 4th ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2006 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools.[4]

With the opening of the new high school building in 2005, the school grade configuration has been modified. Schools in the district (with 2008-09 enrollment data from the National Center for Education Statistics[5]) are:

- Orchard Hill Elementary School (Kindergarten through grade two, 1,041 students)
- Village Elementary School (Grades three and four, 791 students)
- Middle Schools
- Lower Middle School (grades five and six, 909 students)
- Montgomery Upper Middle School (grades seven and eight, 870 students)
- High School
- Montgomery High School (grades nine through twelve, 1,697 students)
