- River Dearne
The River Dearne is a
river inSouth Yorkshire ,England . It flows roughly east for more than thirty kilometres, from its source just insideWest Yorkshire , throughDenby Dale ,Clayton West ,Darton ,Barnsley , Darfield,Wath upon Dearne andBolton on Dearne , to its confluence with the River Don atConisbrough .This was just one of many rivers that was involved in the
2007 United Kingdom floods .The upper Dearne is followed by the "Dearne Way", a footpath through the countryside from "Dearne Head" to Barnsley. The lower Dearne Valley is confusingly now also called Dearne Valley and is a regeneration area.
Attractions along the Dearne include the
Yorkshire Sculpture Park at Bretton Hall, andMonk Bretton Priory .The main
tributary of the River Dearne is the River Dove.ee also
